Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Model
There are an increased number of studies suggesting the role of oxidative stress in the development and progression of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The first study on this was completed by the respiratory disease team of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. Read MoreIt suggests:
- H2 inhalation attenuates Cigarette Smoking (CS) induced lung function decline in mice
- H2 inhalation attenuates CS-induced emphysema, collagen deposition in the small airway and goblet cell hypertrophy, and hyperplasia of airway epithelium.
- H2 inhalation reduces CS-induced airway inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in COPD mice

Airway Stenosis
At the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China, the state key Laboratoy of Respiratory Disease Team did a study showing that Hydrogen Inhalation could effectively reduce the resistance of Tracheal stenosis, and reduce the patients inspiratory effort. Read More
Asthma
One of the first research on Asthma Model using H2 was performed by a team from the Department of Naval Aeromedicine, the second Military Medical University, Shanghai, China. An ovalbumin (OVA) induced mouse model of allergic airway inflammation was established. Mice were sensitized to ovalbumin and received the mixed gas consisting of 67% H2 and 33% O2.

The results showed:
- Hydrogen gas inhalation decreases lung resistance in the asthamatic mice model
- Hydrogen Gas inhalation improves the histology and mucus production
- Reduces levels of inflammatory cells
